Men's Golf Under Par on Day One at Music City Collegiate

DICKSON, Tenn.--Cumberland men's golf battled through weather delays on Monday at GreyStone Golf Club, hosting the opening day of the Music City Collegiate. After a two-hour rain delay, play was suspended late in round two with several teams still on the course. The field will complete round two and play the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.

The Phoenix "A" team sits in ninth place with a score of 478 through 12 holes of round two after an opening-round 282, while the "B" team is in 17th place at 497. The "A" team is one of nine teams that sit under-par heading into day two.

Dalton State leads the event at 16-under with Northwestern Ohio one stroke behind them. Lindsey Wilson is in the hunt at 13-under followed by Point in fourth at nine-under. Campbellsville (-5), Cumberlands (-4), Indiana Wesleyan (-3), and Pikeville (-3) are each ahead of CU.

Gustav Fredriksson turned in one of the best rounds of the tournament on Monday morning, firing a five-under 67 to start play. Fredriksson's round included seven birdies and one double bogey. He is even so far in his second round with three more birdies, one double, and one bogey. Fredriksson is tied for fifth place at five-under.

Carter Stroup continued his steady play for the Phoenix, posting a one-under 71 in round one. In his first round, Stroup carded two birdies, but the big highlight came on the final hole before play was suspended due to rain and lightning. Stroup aced Hole 6, a 180-yard par three, in the pouring rain. He picked up a birdie in his second round, but has three bogeys with six holes left. He is tied for 42nd place.

Patrick Chesnut matched Stroup with a 71 (-1) in round one, using five birdies to balance out a few miscues. The senior added two birdies in his second round to go along four bogeys so far. He is tied with Stroup in 42nd place at one-over.

Bailey Rousseau carded a 73 (+1) in his opening round, playing consistently throughout the day. Rousseau notched four birdies, including two on the back and two on the front nine, and avoided big numbers across the card. He has one birdie and two bogeys in his second round to sit at two-over for the round in 48th place.

Harry Caygill rounded out the "A" team scoring with a 74 (+2) in round one. Caygill made five birdies, four on the back nine, but slipped with four bogeys and one quad. He has a birdie, two bogeys, and a double in round two. Caygill is five-over for the tournament in 66th place.

For the Phoenix "B" team, Garrett Maria paced the group with a solid even-par 72. Maria played a steady first round with two birdies on No. 8 and No. 14 with two bogeys. He had fired four birdies through 12 holes in round two with three bogeys. Maria is one-under for the tournament in 25th place.

Luke Carroll shot a 79 with seven bogeys in the first round. He is just two-over with two bogeys in round two. Carroll is in 84th at nine-over. Carlos Diaz finished with a 78 in round one after fighting through a tough front nine. he posted two birdies in the first round and is four-over in round two. He is in 89th place at 10-over.

Egan Hadelman posted an 81 (+9) in round one with four birdies. He is nine-over in round two and is in 98th place. Tiger Houston rounded out the "B" team scoring with a 93. He is at two-over in round two with a birdie in 100th place.

Competing individually, Josh Taylor carded a 76 (+4) in round one, highlighted by four birdies. He is three-over in round two and in 78th place at seven-over for the tournament.

The field will resume round two at 8:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday at GreyStone Golf Club, followed immediately by the final round of the Music City Collegiate.
