Cumberland Women’s Bowling has a Strong Day One in Illinois

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Cumberland's top three finish puts the Phoenix in a strong position heading into day two.

The Phoenix finished in third out of 23 teams on the first day at the McKendree Matchgames with a score of 4685. Mount Mercy is leading the field with a score of 4826, with SCAD-Savannah finishing right ahead of Cumberland with a score of 4748. The only other Mid-South team that is in the McKendree Matchgames is Tennessee Wesleyan and they finished in sixth with a score of 4398.

Individually, Madison Taylor is leading the Phoenix with a score of 1004, for an average of 200.8, and is in third place. Jennifer Chiarillo also had a top ten performance, finishing in seventh place with a score of 984 for an average of 196.8. Gracie Connelly was the only other bowler who played all 5 games and finished with a score of 831 for an average of 166.2. Kaylie Gibson bowled four games, but Gibson finished with an average of 200.25. Carlie Semrau, Kathleen Schraer, and Serenity Freeman all bowled two games. With Semrau finishing with an average of 181.5, Schraer with an average of 176, and Freeman finishing with an average of 175.

The Phoenix begin the baker games on day two, as they look to remain in the top eight to advance to the knockout stage after the 16 baker games are finished. Cumberland is 396 pins ahead of the ninth place team, host school McKendree University.
