Chesnut Named MSC Men's Golfer of the Week after Top 5 Finish

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland's Patrick Chesnut has been named the Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Chesnut, a junior from Athens, Ala., put together an impressive performance at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite, finishing fifth in a competitive field that featured four Top 25 teams. He fired rounds of 77, 72, and a career-best 68 to claim All-Tournament honors in a 44-player field.

His final-round, a four-under 68, was bogey-free, and he closed the tournament on an incredible 31-hole bogey-free streak, recording 10 birdies over the three-round event. Chesnut helped lead the Phoenix against a strong eight-team field at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, a par-72 course stretching 7,257 yards.

This marks the first Mid-South Conference weekly honor of Chesnut's season and career.

Cumberland will return to action in its next tournament on March 10-11 at the Carey Collegiate in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
