Bokpin Wins National Title, Phoenix Earn Six All-American Honors on Final Day of NAIA Nationals

MARION, Ind.--Cumberland University closed out the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in championship form on Friday, highlighted by Mustapha Bokpin's national title in the men's 200-meter dash and six All-American finishes across track and field events.

Bokpin capped off a remarkable freshman campaign with a statement victory in the 200-meter final, crossing the line in 20.60 seconds to earn his first career NAIA national title. Just hours earlier, he finished as the national runner-up in the 100-meter dash, clocking a blazing 10.13 to earn his second All-American honor of the day. Bokpin becomes a two-time All-American in his outdoor championship debut for a total of four in his first season. 

Senior Praise Idamadudu added to her already legendary career with two more All-American finishes on Friday. She narrowly missed her fourth consecutive national title in the 400-meter dash, finishing second overall with a season-best time of 54.23. Idamadudu returned to the track in the 200-meter final, placing fifth with a time of 24.34 to bring her career total to 19 NAIA All-American honors, including four straight in both the outdoor 200 and 400 meters.

In the field events, Amir Mersal delivered a clutch performance in the men's triple jump, earning seventh place with a mark of 14.99 meters. The junior secured NAIA All-American honors for the second time in his career earning All-American honors earlier this year at the indoor championship. 

Isabelle Aalders also had a breakthrough moment in the women's high jump, earning eighth place with a clearance of 1.66 meters. The performance earned her the first All-American honor of her career and capped off a promising week that included competition in the javelin earlier in the meet.

Isabella Lehtinen wrapped up her national championship debut with a ninth-place finish in the final, crossing the line in 1:12.45. 

Cumberland finished the 2025 NAIA Championships with seven total All-American honors and one national championship in Bokpin. 

British Columbia won the women's NAIA National title with 105 points. Life University finished in second at 77 and William Carey took third place at 53. The Phoenix women picked up 13 points to finish tied for 22nd place. 

British Columbia also won the men's national title with 74 points. Madonna finished in second place at 53 with William Carey in third at 44. Marian finished in fourth at 43 points. Cumberland earned a Top 10 finish tying for seventh place with 26 points.
