Men's Golf Sixth After 36 Holes at Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite

VALDOSTA, Ga.--Cumberland Men's Golf opened up the spring in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite. Gustav Fredriksson sits in the top 10 after firing the second lowest round of the tournament in round two. 

Cumberland turned in a two-round total of 604 to sit sixth overall in a tightly contested field. The Phoenix opened with a 310 in round one before responding with a strong 294 in round two, shaving 16 strokes off their morning score to climb the leaderboard and close the day within striking distance of the top five.

Point (GA) sits in the lead at 587 strokes shooting a 299 in round one and a 288 in round two. Southeastern (FL) is in second at 591 after firing the low round of the tournament with a 283, five-under in round two. Reinhardt is in third at 593, Coastal Georgia is one stroke behind in fourth at 594, and Dalton State is just behind them in fifth at 595. Truett McConnell finished just one shot behind Cumberland at 605, while UMobile is in eighth at 626.

Gustav Fredriksson delivered the low round of the tournament for Cumberland, bouncing back from a 76 in the opening round to fire a four-under 68 in round two. After posting a 37-39 split in the morning, Fredriksson caught fire in the afternoon with matching 34s on the front and back nine to climb the leaderboard to sit in ninth place and close the day at 144 strokes or even-par. Fredriksson fired five birdies in round two with just one bogey to go along with 12 pars.

Patrick Chesnut is tied for 11th place over the opening 36 holes with rounds of 75 and 73 to sit at 148 strokes through day one. Chesnut opened with a 39 on the front and settled in with a 36 on the back in round one. He picked up two birdies in the first round before following it up with a steady 73 in round two with three birdies and four bogeys.

Tiger Houston is tied for 23rd place after turning in rounds of 77 and 76 to finish the day at 153 strokes. Houston was consistent across both rounds,carding two birdies in each round. In round one he paired that with five bogeys and one double and posted six bogeys in round two. 

Egan Hadelman improved by five strokes in the second round, following up his opening 82 with a 77 to sit at 159 strokes tied for 34th. Carter Stroup is two strokes behind Hadelman tied for 36th. He also showed improvement as the day progressed, trimming seven strokes off his opening 84 with a 77 in round two.

The Phoenix will wrap up the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite tomorrow in Valdosta.
