Fredriksson Sits Top 10 as Phoenix Host Music City Classic

HERMITAGE, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's golf team played host for this week's tournament, welcoming in 20 top teams from across the country to Hermitage Golf Club and the Presidents Reserve.

The Phoenix sit tied for 18th place, shooting 19 over as a team with rounds of 294 and 301, for a 595 total. Keiser and Webber are locked up at the top of the leaderboard with the latter leading by just one stroke, sitting at 22 and 21 under, respectively. Keiser's Iver Sokhan-Sanj is the current individual leader, shooting 12 under through two rounds.

Gustav Fredriksson led the Phoenix on day one as he fired in duplicate rounds of 70 and 70, landing himself in 10th place after 36 holes. The Swede shot four birdies in his first 18 before turning it up his second time through the course. Fredriksson added in three more birdies and went for an eagle on hole 18, one of just over 20 eagles all day in the 100+ player lineup.

Garrett Maria was the second leading finisher for Cumberland, firing an even par 72 in the first round and a 77 in his second. Maria's first round was his highlight on the day as the American started slow on the first back nine with three bogeys, but came roaring back with four birdies to climb his way back up the leaderboard to 63rd overall.

Patrick Chesnut was third in the order for the Phoenix, shooting a 77 and 75 over his two rounds. The senior brought a consistent effort, shooting 11 pars in the first round with an even more impressive 15 in the second round, sitting at 82nd.

Rounding out the scoring lineup for Cumberland, Egan Hadelman went 11 over with rounds of 76 and 79. Hadelman landed four birdies on the day and sits in 92nd place overall. Tiger Houston was the final player in the Phoenix starting five, firing rounds of 84 and 76.

Cumberland will play their final round tomorrow morning with tee times starting at 7:30 AM CT.
