Then’s Four-Home Run Week Nets TSWA Player of the Week Recognition

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland's Wilser Then has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Baseball Player of the Week following a dominant stretch at the plate that helped lead the Phoenix to a perfect 4-0 week.

Then, a first baseman from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, turned in one of the top offensive performances in the state, hitting .636 (7-for-11) with four home runs, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored.

The highlight of the week came in Cumberland's series opener against Georgetown, where Then erupted for three home runs and six RBI in a 13-2 victory. He followed that performance with another home run in the Phoenix's doubleheader sweep on Saturday, continuing his torrid pace at the plate.

Then recorded multiple hits in three of four games during the week and consistently set the tone offensively for Cumberland, helping the Phoenix secure wins over Reinhardt and Georgetown.

With the honor, Then is third Phoenix to earn TSWA Baseball honors this season. Cohl Proctor earned Player of the Week honors earlier in the year while Logan Baskin was named TSWA Pitcher of the Week in February.

Cumberland returns to action today as CU hosts No. 9 Tennessee Wesleyan.
