Phoenix Men's Tennis Receiving Votes to be Ranked in NAIA Top 25

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's tennis has received votes to be ranked in this week's NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches Top 25, as was announced by the league office this morning.

Cumberland has gone 2-3 since the previous poll, taking a pair of wins in conference action for a 2-1 record during that stretch, though they fell to tough DI opponents as well. In those wins, the Phoenix dominated both Freed-Hardeman and Georgetown, dropping just three points combined in the two matches.

In their losses the Phoenix dropped to a Lindsey Wilson side who is ranked inside the top five, while also taking points off of both Tennessee Tech and Lipscomb in that same time.

The top five teams held their positions in the latest NAIA Men's Tennis Top 25, with Georgia Gwinnett leading at No. 1 with 11 first-place votes and 300 points. Trailing behind them are Tennessee Wesleyan, Keiser (Fla.), Southeastern (Fla.), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

Several programs made notable upward moves this week. William Carey (Miss.) climbed from No. 8 to No. 6, while Holy Cross (Ind.) jumped from No. 9 to No. 8. Morningside (Iowa) moved up from No. 14 to No. 13, and Grace (Ind.) rose from No. 20 to No. 19. St. Thomas (Fla.) came in at No. 20, climbing from No. 22.

Three new programs entered the poll in the latest edition: Goshen (Ind.) at No. 23, Loyola (La.) at No. 24, and New College of Florida at No. 25.
