Morrow had an extensive career in college athletics, beginning with his playing career at Vanderbilt University. There he played both football and basketball, under the tutelage of some of the best coaches of the time. Playing on the offensive line, he was known for his strong attitude and play, despite his 175 pound frame.
At Cumberland, Morrow was the head coach of the football team for only three seasons, his impact however lasted until long after. Coming out of the Great Depression, Morrow helped bring the football team back to its former glory, that is until World War II again put a halt on athletics.
